As in cities around the world, Omaha is quickly becoming known as a weekend outdoor market city. Coming soon, Omahans and visitors alike will have a unique Saturday shopping experience in the Old Market!
The Artisan Open Air Market opens Saturday, May 29 and runs through Oct. 16, on the southeast corner of 13th and Leavenworth streets. Hours are 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The current Market vendors include those selling baked goods, antiques, bedding plants, fresh vegetables, flower arrangements, books, children's items, pet supplies and natural soaps. Shoppers are encouraged to relax and enjoy outdoor dining as the summer progresses.
Jim Laguzza, Artisan Open Air Market director, says, “We’re very excited about the energy our market brings to the southern edge of the Old Market. We currently have 24 vendors with more signing up every day. We plan to increase our vendors to 50 and add music and other performers soon.”
Parking is available for $5.00 one block north of the Artisan Market in the lot on the southwest corner of 12th and Jones streets (north of the Bemis Center). With a vendor purchase of $5.00, there is a $2.00 refund on parking.
Laguzza said, “Our goal is help metro Omaha small businesses grow. I encourage everyone to support our vendors and enjoy coming together as a community.”
