Nominations for the 2011 Young Professionals Choice Award are being accepted through Friday, Aug. 20. The award recognizes organizations that excel in their efforts to attract, retain and develop young professionals in the Greater Omaha community.
Young professionals are encouraged to nominate their employer by completing the online nomination form.
The award winner will be announced at the 2011 Young Professionals Summit on March 3 at Qwest Center Omaha.
"We want to recognize companies that are actively recruiting young professionals and creating work environments where they are encouraged to stay," said Sarah Johnson, manager of the Greater Omaha Young Professionals, a program of the Greater Omaha Chamber.
Omaha Public Power District was last year's recipient of the award. Their application and subsequent interviews with management and small groups of young professionals revealed an innovative organization with a corporate culture that encourages work/life balance. Their employees have an active role in shaping the future of the organization and are offered a variety of opportunities to grow personally and professionally.
Fifty-six nominations were submitted for the 2010 award.
The media sponsor of the award is The Reader.
